We went on a minibeast hunt in science to complete a survey about minibeasts and microhabitats in our school garden. We used the internet to research different planets in computing and enjoyed two Mystery Readers this week.

Another busy week for year 1! We have loved exploring the life and work of another Famous lady in our history, Frida Kahlo. We are looking forward to developing our painting skills next week when we will be painting a self portrait. We have looked at rolling in gymnastics and done some lovely sequence story writing in English. Maths has been lots of subtracting and finding the difference

A great trip to the Caves, The Ghyll and Bushcraft. The children have been fabulous again. The week has flown by!

We've had a busy week in pre-school! We have made egg box aliens, created yummy 'pizzas' and added our favourite toppings. We have been reading 'Whatever Next' and have made a list of what we would take on our trip to the moon!

Y5 continued with their computing topic of cryptology by sending their own messages in Morse code: well done Y5. We are thoroughly enjoying using our music skills to learn to play the African drums.

A fantastic first day - the children have been a credit so far! They have listened really well, taken instruction, had a great time out on the water and enjoyed Mac 'n' Cheese for tea with Apple Crumble. We did some OAA in the dark and explored the grounds. They have all managed to make their own beds and enjoyed nighttime hot chocolate and biscuits.

We have made a wormery in science, looked at 3D shapes in Maths and made a cube from a net. We enjoyed using the glockenspiels in music and performing our dance in expressive arts. We used a website to research planets in computing and enjoyed another mystery reader in class.

On Monday we did a taste taste investigation as part of our science learning. We used our sense of taste to describe different food items. We also used our different senses to create some lovely sentences in our writing using adjectives. In Maths, we have been practising doubling numbers, trying to spot patterns as part of our addition and subtraction learning.

Pre-school have thoroughly enjoyed creating artwork inspired by Jackson Pollock. They spent a long time carefully flicking and splattering the paint with their brushes. They have dressed up as firefighters and rescued their friends from dangerous situations (being stuck on a rock) and have enjoyed exploring items that float and sink in the water tray.

In Science, we worked scientifically to test the properties of liquids.
