We had a fabulous start to the term. We worked hard on converting measure, researching The Lake District and reading mysterious short stories.

As part of our computing work, we have been using laptops and desktops to practice our Microsoft Office skills. This week we practiced saving and uploading documents to our Microsoft Teams class page.

This week we have used the new school laptops in computing. Year 6 helped us to type in our usernames and we learned all about the different parts of the computer and how to use them safely too. We have done some excellent fairy tale writing in English and looked at teen numbers up to 20. We have shown some lovely sharing and teamwork in our areas and explored different body parts in science.

The children are really enjoying learning about Space. This week, we have made space play dough, we have explored planets in our space den, and have been matching the amount of moon rocks to their numbers. We have been practicing our self help skills and have enjoyed pouring drinks for each other at snack time. We have also created our new portraits for our project "Drawing the Write Way."

In PE, we used our listening skills, communication skills, teamwork skills  and balance skills to order ourselves in height, age and alphabetical order.

Year 1 have settled in so well to 2026! We have had a lovely week of learning. We have really enjoyed our new learning about Famous Women in History, we have explored hospitals and nursing in the past and present and created a timeline to order key events in the life of Florence Nightingale. We have also looked at the story of the presentation of Jesus from Luke's Gospel and we acted it out in groups.

Happy New Year! A really good first week back in Year 2. We have worked hard in Maths, enjoyed P.E with Wigan Athletic and celebrated the Epiphany by chalking the Epiphany message on the playground.

Y5 had great fun designing and creating their DT projects - a healthy lunch box snack. We worked together to design a product that matched our brief of a lunch box snack that was healthy, affordable, bite-size and delicious. Well done Y5, your mini frittatas were a tremendous hit!

The children have had a lovely first week back in pre-school. We have welcomed new children, and have recited the journey of the 'three wise men.' We found baby Jesus, lying in his manger. It was very exciting. Our new topic this term, is Space. We have been talking about what we might find in space and have learnt special new words. "gravity" and "orbit." The children loved watching a space rocket launch into space, we did a countdown from 10 and shouted "Blast off!"

A jam packed week: Dancing at the Christmas Disco; baking our gluten free products and evaluating them; finishing our setting descriptions of A Christmas Carol; making Christmas cards and decorations; a visit from Fr Joseph and a festive litter pick around Standish.

What a lovely last week of 2025, full of crafts, art work and Christmas poetry. Well done everyone for all your hard work, we hope you have a lovely rest and a Happy Christmas.

What a lovely final week of 2025 in Year 1! The children started off their week with "Tea with Santa"- everyone had a lovely time! We enjoyed doing our Artwork based on the Artist Yayoi Kusama and have enjoyed making our Christmas cards and crafts in class.
