St Marie's Catholic Primary School

What a super day we had celebrating 'Elmer Day'. We tasted lots of yummy fruits, found Elmer in a fun game of hide and seek and had a bubble dance party!

Year 1 have had a lovely final week of Summer term 1. On Tuesday, we celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday with a minibeast hunt, a fact finding lesson and a special whole school assembly. We have retold the Pentecost story in RE, made a watercolour skyline of the Great Fire of London and shared some lovely news and history homework. We have been practising phonics everyday too. We are all ready for a lovely week at home in the sunshine!

Bright Sparks Science visited this week and we have produced some lovely Maya Masks. We have begin our final Campfire Story

We created posters about pollution, saving energy and recycling and learnt about David Attenborough's dedication to conservation. We presented our findings in a whol e school celebration of David Attenborough's 100th birthday.

A busy week in reception. We have planted beans and sunflowers. Our caterpillars have made their chrysalis so now we watch and wait for them to emerge as butterflies. We have worked hard on our handwriting skills. In R.E we have made pinwheels to remind ourselves that we can't see the Holy Spirit but we can feel it just like the wind.

Lots of revision and hard work has gone into the last few weeks in Y6. The children have been a credit and gave it everything they had for SATs this week. Today, we played Taskmaster and went for celebratory ice cream at Secret Garden. Well Done Team, we are so proud of you!!!!

This week we have been measuring using cm and m. We measured our plants to see if they have grown in science. We practised a running stitch and cutting and using shapes in art like Paul Klee and enjoyed some exercise with year 6 for mental health week.

This week some children in year 1 had a hot chocolate with Mrs Jackson for having 30 stars. We went on a chimpanzee hunt in science too and have had another lovely practise for sports day in our PE lesson.

We used Freeze Frames to represent the Apostles Creed.

Pre-school have had lots of fun creating Elmer patterns this week. They are thoroughly enjoying learning about the lifecycle of a caterpillar and have been very excited to see their caterpillars growing and evolving into chrysalides.

As part of our science topic on space, we learned about time and how we have measured time through the ages. We then made and calibrated our own sundials.

Year 1 have had a sports day practise in PE this week, we did lots of sprinting, throwing and jumping! We have written diary entries in writing this week and we also did a treasure hunt to find some tricky words.

Year 4 wrote a prayer for Pope Leo and all those who continue the work of Jesus today, in serving, teaching and caring for others in the work they do.

This week we have started blogging in computing. In music we were finding the pulse and listening and responding to music. We did athletics in P.E. preparing for sports day. We also enjoyed praying the rosary with Year 3 and had another Mystery reader.

Another wonderful week in pre-school! The children have enjoyed exploring the areas and have especially loved singing and signing with CrazyJo in the garden!

Y5 played guess the 3D shape. By asking mathematical questions about vertices, edges and faces, we each had to deduce which shape was written on our post-it note.
