On Wednesday afternoons, we will be joined by Funbox Jo for a fun-filled session combining music, movement and signing. During each session, the children will learn Signalong signs alongside familiar and exciting songs. This is a wonderful way to encourage children’s spoken language, communication and confidence, while also supporting their health and well-being. Most importantly, the sessions are all about having lots of fun, singing, moving and learning together!

On Wednesday mornings, the children will enjoy a fun and engaging PE session with Mr Edwards. These sessions are designed to support the development of important physical skills, including gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, balance and spatial awareness. Through a range of playful activities and games, the children will also learn about the importance of staying healthy, keeping active and looking after their bodies. Hello and a warm welcome to Y5 for the year 2026-2027! Mr Farley and Ms Aspinall are supporting in class. Keep an eye on our class page for regular updates and important information about our learning.

We used our musical, listening and performing skills to present a percussion medley for our families and some other classes in school. We enjoyed every minute!

We have used our persuasive writing skills to convince people to visit The Anderton Centre. We then used our presentation skills to persuade Year 3 to go there on a residential next year.

Using our PE skills and having fun on an athletics carousel.

We created posters about pollution, saving energy and recycling and learnt about David Attenborough's dedication to conservation. We presented our findings in a whol e school celebration of David Attenborough's 100th birthday.

We used Freeze Frames to represent the Apostles Creed.

As part of our St. Marie's 60th Anniversary Celebrations, we dressed up in 1990s outfits; performed a dance to a 1990s song and enjoyed a whole school picnic.

World Book Day in Year 4 based on Perfectly Norman who grew wings.

Thank you to all the Year 4 Parents and grandparents who have supported us in class as Mystery Readers. We have loved welcoming you into our classroom and it has showed us all the importance of reading for pleasure.

In R.E. we have started our new topic Desert to Garden. We have read and discussed the story of The Prodigal Son, creating freeze frames to represent different scenes.

We had a great time learning about different countries and their cultures on Diversity Day. In our own class, we focussed on Nigeria, learning about its landscape, wildlife, languages, currency, national food and popular sports. We even learnt a Nigerian song and dance!

We are thoroughly enjoying using our music skills to learn to play the African drums.

In PSHE, we discussed and made posters about the features of a good community.

In PE, we used our listening skills, communication skills, teamwork skills and balance skills to order ourselves in height, age and alphabetical order.
