St Marie's Catholic Primary School

This week, the children have enjoyed creating Easter cards, and welly planting. We have been on an Egg hunt around the garden, tasted yummy hot cross buns and enjoyed potato planting with Mr Keating.

We shared some lovely homework together in our final week. We have also visited the stations of the cross with year 6 leading us and talked about Jesus's final days leading up to Easter Sunday. Everyone has worked so hard this term and deserves a well earned rest.

This week we have been busy making Easter cards and an Easter Paschal candle. We have added prayers to our prayer book and walked around the stations of the cross led by year 6. We have worked hard with our handwriting all term.

We performed the Easter Story through words, song and dance. Happy Easter from Mrs Hawkins, Mrs Carrington, Mrs Polgar and Mrs Aspinall x

This week we looked at the Scripture in Luke's Gospel of the Last Supper. We have been working hard on our phase 5 sounds in phonics and we have looked at features of different animals in science.

This week, we have enjoyed welly planting in the garden, exploring Spring and the weather, and have developed our cutting skills!

This week we have been sharing and grouping and enjoyed some active maths. We have had lots of visitors in Year 2: another mystery reader shared a book, Mr Keating who taught us about seeds and bulbs and Mr Walker from the Chorley Heritage Society who shared his knowledge of Myles Standish.

AA busy week in reception, we've even had a visit from a real life 'Superhero'.

This week we have compared objects using non unit measurements in maths. We have also grouped different animals in science, looking at features and characteristics of each group. We did our very best writing in English, writing about how we would look after our pet dinosaur using 'ing' verbs.

We have been learning about how Peter denied Jesus and how he was forgiven. We enjoyed P.E. with Wigan Athletic and another Mystery Reader. We had some time on the iPads to embed our phonics knowledge.

We have been very busy preparing our assembly and making our gifts for our lovely mummy's. Happy Mothers Day to all our mums on Sunday.

We have continue to practice for our SATs this week, we have been revising specific spelling patterns, all our word classes and how to attempt reasoning questions. We have continued with our journey through Holy Week and also played a ball game The Maya played and wrote a set of instructions.

Y5 practiced their maths learning in an active maths session. We revised our decimals, percentages and fractions as well as our square and cube numbers. Well done, Y5

We have enjoyed two more mystery Readers in Year 2 this week. We loved making bird's nests for science week and investigated if they would survive rain and wind. We have role played Jesus' entrance to Jerusalem and been working on arrays in Maths. We also enjoyed performing our Mother's Day Assembly.

This week it was British Science week. We collected natural materials at home and during daily mile and we created our own dinosaur habitats. We had to consider what the dinosaur would need to survive. We have been busy preparing for our Mothers Day assembly and have used 'but' to join clauses in a sentence.
