We enjoyed our Santa Dash with Reception. We have taste tested gluten free products for our DT project and we have role played being the ghosts from A Christmas Carol

We had a great time raising money for CAFOD on our Santa Dash.

What a busy week! Nativity rehearsals are well under way. We went into the computer suite to practise logging on, we looked at different habitats in science, learned about Advent in R.E and some children enjoyed P.E. activities with Year 5.

This week year 1 have been learning about 3D shapes in Maths. We have done lots of shape sorting and have enjoyed making patterns with 2D and 3D shapes. In writing, we have been looking at Instruction writing and we have been discussing bossy verbs and how to sequence different instructions.

We have worked hard on dividing and multiplying fractions, finished our newspaper reports about the ocean, debated the title 'Mary the Mother of God' and made models of invertebrates in Science.

We've had a lovely week of learning in pre-school. The children have painted the crib for baby Jesus' arrival and have recited the story of the Angel Gabriel and Mary. We have also created a kindness garden. The children are encouraged to 'plant a seed of kindness' when they have done something kind in the classroom.

As part of our 'To Know You More Clearly' work, Y5 have been learning about the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. To complete our learning on this, we worked in pairs to create dioramas of a Joyful Mystery of our choosing. A huge thank you to everyone who brought in materials from home.

This week, we displayed our music skills in a Xylophone Performance for parents and children in school.

This week, we have enjoyed exploring continuous provision, going on a bear hunt and decorating the Christmas tree whilst dancing to Christmas music. We have also created beautiful handprints of Mary and the Angel Gabriel.

This week we have worked very hard on our quizzes. We visited Standish Library to share some Christmas poems with a local poet and we acted out Mary greeting Elizabeth from our scripture.

The children enjoyed meeting Ray, a published poet. He read some of his poems and got us in the festive spirit.

We have been working on adding and subtracting fractions this week. We have created PowerPoint presentations about important women in the Bible and we have dissected owl pellets to help us understand the main character in our Guided Reading book.

We have been working very hard in Assessment Week. We are very proud of our Double Page Spread Assessments based on our topic 'Who lives in Antarctica?'

Y5 went on a Psalm search. We looked for examples of certain features, emotions and themes within Psalms that had been placed around our outdoor area. This gave us a better understanding of the Psalms and introduced us to some new vocabulary. When we returned to class, we wrote our own versions of a song/poem/prayer in the style of a Psalm.
