St Marie's Catholic Primary School

This week we have continued reading our guided reading book and answered questions about the story. We role played making emergency phone calls in PSHE. We have also looked at coasts around the UK and different features of coasts.

Year 4 had a great time at the Anderton Centre. We focused on skills such as teamwork, independence and resilience.

We started our reception and year 6 gardening club this week. It was just reception children this week as the year 6 were visiting St Peter's High school. This week we planted our beans and sunflowers we had been growing in class from last half term. We then weeded the flower beds. A great job done by all.

A very exciting week! We have held auditions for 'An Orphan's Tale" - They were fantastic and we were blown away by the bravery of the individuals who put themselves out there for solo parts. We told our Campfire Stories in class and finally got to play a game of rounders in (some) sunshine! We began our Shakespeare topic and designed a farewell toy for our buddies.

Welcome back to our final term in Year 2. This week we enjoyed watching the brass instrument performance. We role played the scripture of 'The Good Samaritan' and we are loving our first whole class reading book 'The Golden Goose.' We have had some fantastic Coast homework to display too and been locating the seas and oceans around the UK.

A great first week back! Our new topic is Geography "Where do the wheels on the bus go?" We have looked at where we live in the Atlas and recapped the countries in the United Kingdom. In RE we have looked at ways we can help and support our Global neighbours in other countries. In science, we have learned about the parts of a plant and planted our own beans with a partner. We have been working hard to recap all of our sounds in preparation for our Phonics screening next wee

The children have enjoyed a camp fire this evening and have been enjoying some time colouring and reading.

Reception have been very busy this week. They have been working with year 6 designing clothes for their teddies, year 6 will make these clothes. We have been reading the story of 'The Rainbow Fish' and have been sharing in maths.

As part of our To Know You More Clearly work, Y5 went on a 'treasure hunt' that helped us make links between the gifts and the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

A lovely first week back at pre-school! The children have enjoyed using their imagination when playing in our new 'ice cream parlour.' We have released our butterflies into nature and waved them farewell. We have explored alliteration in phonics, creating silly sentences with our names and have taken part in an observational drawing of a pineapple.

On Saturday morning Mrs Bunting woke up to the sound of fluttering. By Sunday 4 butterflies have emerged from their cocoons. Watch Mrs bunting's big girls release them.

A week thinking about Sir David Attenbrough. We have been watching our sunflowers and beans grow. We've also had a mystery reader - Nell's mummy. We love listening to stories.

To celebrate David Attenborough's 100th birthday we used different sources to make a fact file about his life. We also went on a minibeast hunt around the school grounds and found out facts about lots of minibeasts using the iPads. In R.E. we completed a task to show what we know about Pentecost and the Holy Spirit and we loved sewing and decorating our hand puppets. +
