Year 1, Spring 2- Week 2
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day 2026. Our theme was 'Perfectly Norman' written by Tom Percival. This was such a lovely book with the underlining theme of the importance of being ourselves and being proud of who we are. Year 1 loved reading and chatting about the book and the children talked about their reasons for their chosen costume. Rosie's mum kindly brought in some real fossils from the Jurassic Coast of North Yorkshire which we all loved looking at.

World Book Day in Y5
Thank you, Y5 for such an enjoyable World Book Day 2026! You looked great in your costumes or dressed in something that made you unique! In class, we focused on the book Perfectly Norman , by Tom Percival. We created story maps, to practice our sequencing events skills and made emoji maps that tracked the emotions and feelings of characters throughout the book.

Y5 Lunar Landing Science Project
As we celebrate national science week next week, Y5 have been busy preparing their projects ready to take to a showcasing event at Standish Community High School. The theme of science week this year is 'curiosity'. We have been set a space themed task where we have to protect the 'astronauts' in our landing craft by creating a shock-absorbing system for our lander. Well done, Y5, you were extremely resourceful!

Pre-school- Spring term 11- Week 1 & 2
It's been a very busy two weeks back in Pre-school! We have started our new topic 'Spring has Sprung' and have enjoyed taking part in an observational Daffodil painting. Astronauts have chosen their favourite nursery rhymes and have drawn a picture of what they chose. We are currently creating a fruit and vegetable shop in our role play area. The children created a shopping list of what they will buy when it opens.

Y5's Visit to the Liverpool World Museum
Y5 had a wonderful time at the Liverpool World Museum. We visited the permanent ancient Egypt exhibition where we saw: mummies, 'shabti' statues and other amazing artefacts from ancient Egypt. In our mummification workshop, we all took part in 'mummifying' a body and learned about the reasons behind many of the rituals of mummification. We also had chance to visit the aquarium and space exploration floors!

Year 1- Spring 1- Week 6
A wonderful final week for Year 1 before our half term holiday. Today we explored the large apparatus in Gymnastics and performed some excellent rolling, jumping and balancing movements in our groups. We really enjoyed it. We also finished our final Frida Kahlo style portraits and shared some lovely homework. We have all worked super hard this term and deserve a lovely rest at home with our families. Well done year 1. We also celebrated diversity day on Monday. It was a fan
