We spent an active maths lesson revising our work on factors and multiples. We retrieved factors of a given number, combined numbers to make multiples and experimented with organising numbers within venn diagrams.

We loved combining our P.E. and maths skills on Number Day. We used our running skills to sprint between hoops and our maths skills to construct and solve sums using all four operations.

The first day back was a magical day filled with Maths. The children loved the Taskmaster challenges and the costumes and outfits were wonderful. Who loved it more-the children or the staff?

For our Design and Technology work this half term, Y5 have been researching, designing and building their own cam mechanisms to create a Viking-themed toy. Well done, Y5, on some fantastic projects. It was great to see real perseverance, resilience, team work and problem solving skills. Well done!

The children loved making 'Journey Sticks' as part of their Mapping Week work. The pupils made a plan map of the classroom and their imaginary town.

The end of a very busy term! This week we have been doing lots of mapping skills in our local Geography work and we showed off our creative skills making our Titanic bedrooms, which we loved. More great topic homework too. Well done everyone for a wonderful first term - you are all superstars!

This week, as part of mapping week, we walked around Standish to observe and record features that keep us safe; keep our environment clean and are community friendly.

During week 7 we have celebrated 'Black History' month by finding out about the person who invented the Traffic lights, We have listened to prayers. We are working hard with our phonics.

Year 4 have been inspired by the poet, Benjamin Zephania as part of our celebration for Black History Day.

Year 1 enjoying their morning break at the new snack tables. For 'Black History Day' in school, the children heard about the life and achievements of Rosa Parks. They created freeze frames of scenes from her life and learnt the actions and words to a song inspired by her - She Sat on the Bus.

As part of Black History Month, we spent some time learning about Windrush and why people emigrated to Britain in 1948. We imagined how the people aboard the Windrush must have been thinking and feeling before and after they arrived in Britain.

We have enjoyed writing poems this week being inspired by all the poets mentioned in 'Love That Dog'. Our To Know You More Clearly topic has led us to make videos all about Baptism and what effects this celebration has on us as Christians. We have also explored events at the end of WW2. We acted out what it would feel like to leave the Caribbean as part of the Windrush Generation - who were invited to the UK to help rebuild after the war. We created some artwork inspired by A

This week we made lanterns to show how we carry the light of Jesus. We celebrated more topic homework and Black History Month, learning all about Rosa Parks. Well done to Alice and Evie who managed to climb all the way up the ropes.

This week, we visited Standish Library. We loved listening to a story about a girl and a fox in the comfort of a ready made den. We then predicted the next part of the story.
