Year 2: Summer 2 - Week 2
This week we have continued reading our guided reading book and answered questions about the story. We role played making emergency phone calls in PSHE. We have also looked at coasts around the UK and different features of coasts.

Year 2: Summer 2 - Week 1
Welcome back to our final term in Year 2. This week we enjoyed watching the brass instrument performance. We role played the scripture of 'The Good Samaritan' and we are loving our first whole class reading book 'The Golden Goose.' We have had some fantastic Coast homework to display too and been locating the seas and oceans around the UK.

Year 2: Summer 1 - Week 5
To celebrate David Attenborough's 100th birthday we used different sources to make a fact file about his life. We also went on a minibeast hunt around the school grounds and found out facts about lots of minibeasts using the iPads. In R.E. we completed a task to show what we know about Pentecost and the Holy Spirit and we loved sewing and decorating our hand puppets. +

Year 2: Summer 1 - Week 4
This week we have been measuring using cm and m. We measured our plants to see if they have grown in science. We practised a running stitch and cutting and using shapes in art like Paul Klee and enjoyed some exercise with year 6 for mental health week.

Year 2: Summer 1 - week 3
This week we have started blogging in computing. In music we were finding the pulse and listening and responding to music. We did athletics in P.E. preparing for sports day. We also enjoyed praying the rosary with Year 3 and had another Mystery reader.

Year 2: Summer 1 - Week 2
This week we have created a dance to show how the Apostles felt at Pentecost, we have made cards for someone who shows us unconditional love like Jesus shows us. We have measured our plant stems and counted the leaves to monitor how they are growing and have enjoyed another Mystery Reader.

Year 2:Summer 1-Week 1
This week we had a great time celebrating 60 Years of St Marie's. We enjoyed a lovely mass, visiting the school museum, dressing up, a picnic, performing our dance from the 1980's and planting a tree and our time capsule. In Science we set up a comparative test to find out what conditions plants need and we planted seeds so we can monitor how they grow.

Year 2: Spring 2 - Week 6
This week we have been busy making Easter cards and an Easter Paschal candle. We have added prayers to our prayer book and walked around the stations of the cross led by year 6. We have worked hard with our handwriting all term.

Year 2: Spring 2- Week 5
This week we have been sharing and grouping and enjoyed some active maths. We have had lots of visitors in Year 2: another mystery reader shared a book, Mr Keating who taught us about seeds and bulbs and Mr Walker from the Chorley Heritage Society who shared his knowledge of Myles Standish.

Year 2: Spring 2 - Week 4
We have been learning about how Peter denied Jesus and how he was forgiven. We enjoyed P.E. with Wigan Athletic and another Mystery Reader. We had some time on the iPads to embed our phonics knowledge.

Year 2: Spring 1- Week 3
We have enjoyed two more mystery Readers in Year 2 this week. We loved making bird's nests for science week and investigated if they would survive rain and wind. We have role played Jesus' entrance to Jerusalem and been working on arrays in Maths. We also enjoyed performing our Mother's Day Assembly.

Year 2: Spring 2-Week 2
This week we enjoyed World Book Day, especially the story of Perfectly Norman. We had two more Mystery Readers this week which was wonderful. We have been learning about 'groups of' in Maths and also put our sewing squares together to make a Kantha Quilt.

Year 2: Spring 2 - Week 1
A very busy first week back. In science we carried out an investigation to find out if woodlice preferred damp or dry conditions. We read the scripture of the paralyzed man in R.E. and set up shopping activities in Maths. We have really enjoyed reading, solving and writing riddles in English and had another exciting Mystery Reader. We also enjoyed the silent disco on Monday.

Year 2: Spring 1 - Week 6
What a busy week! On Monday we celebrated Diversity Day and learned about China, Nigeria and Iceland, we are proud of our Northern Lights artwork. We showed real perseverance in D.T. using a running stitch to sew our Bangladesh motif design onto material. We have also enjoyed a story with another mystery reader and tasted some Indian food too, thanks to Mrs Joshy. Have a lovely well deserved half term everyone - you have all worked very hard this term.

We went on a minibeast hunt in science to complete a survey about minibeasts and microhabitats in our school garden. We used the internet to research different planets in computing and enjoyed two Mystery Readers this week.

We have made a wormery in science, looked at 3D shapes in Maths and made a cube from a net. We enjoyed using the glockenspiels in music and performing our dance in expressive arts. We used a website to research planets in computing and enjoyed another mystery reader in class.

Year 2: Spring 1 - Week 3
We had a great lesson on the computers and new laptops and also used the i-pads for research about Bangladesh. We have been learning about symmetry in shapes in Maths and microhabitats in science, where we sorted and grouped animals using a classification key. We also welcomed our first Mystery Reader which was very exciting!
