St Marie's Catholic Primary School

This week, the children have enjoyed creating Easter cards, and welly planting. We have been on an Egg hunt around the garden, tasted yummy hot cross buns and enjoyed potato planting with Mr Keating.

This week, we have enjoyed welly planting in the garden, exploring Spring and the weather, and have developed our cutting skills!

It's been a busy week in pre-school this week! We have been sequencing the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk.' The children remembered the story so well! We have been vegetable printing and making 'birthday' cupcakes. We have also enjoyed playing outside in the spring sunshine!

The children have had lots of fun this week exploring our Spring activities. They have thoroughly enjoyed role playing in our new 'fruit and veg shop' and loved creating our Spring playdough.

It's been a very busy two weeks back in Pre-school! We have started our new topic 'Spring has Sprung' and have enjoyed taking part in an observational Daffodil painting. Astronauts have chosen their favourite nursery rhymes and have drawn a picture of what they chose. We are currently creating a fruit and vegetable shop in our role play area. The children created a shopping list of what they will buy when it opens.

We've had a busy week in pre-school! We have made egg box aliens, created yummy 'pizzas' and added our favourite toppings. We have been reading 'Whatever Next' and have made a list of what we would take on our trip to the moon!

Pre-school have thoroughly enjoyed creating artwork inspired by Jackson Pollock. They spent a long time carefully flicking and splattering the paint with their brushes. They have dressed up as firefighters and rescued their friends from dangerous situations (being stuck on a rock) and have enjoyed exploring items that float and sink in the water tray.

It has been a super busy week in pre-school! We have created astronaut helmets and flown around Earth, we have enjoyed making space collage plates and went to the 'dough disco'! It was so much fun.

The children are really enjoying learning about Space. This week, we have made space play dough, we have explored planets in our space den, and have been matching the amount of moon rocks to their numbers. We have been practicing our self help skills and have enjoyed pouring drinks for each other at snack time. We have also created our new portraits for our project "Drawing the Write Way."

The children have had a lovely first week back in pre-school. We have welcomed new children, and have recited the journey of the 'three wise men.' We found baby Jesus, lying in his manger. It was very exciting. Our new topic this term, is Space. We have been talking about what we might find in space and have learnt special new words. "gravity" and "orbit." The children loved watching a space rocket launch into space, we did a countdown from 10 and shouted "Blast off!"

The children have had a lovely last week in pre-school. We have been practicing wrapping presents at the wrapping station, reciting the birth of baby Jesus and enjoyed a fun disco at tea with Santa! We would just like to say a huge thank you for all the lovely gifts and cards we have received. They are greatly appreciated and we look forward to welcoming the children back in January. We've had a lovely week exploring Christmas in continuous provision. We've made yummy cookies with the play dough, played with Christmas happy street and have loved singing Christmas songs together.

We've had a lovely week of learning in pre-school. The children have painted the crib for baby Jesus' arrival and have recited the story of the Angel Gabriel and Mary. We have also created a kindness garden. The children are encouraged to 'plant a seed of kindness' when they have done something kind in the classroom.

This week, we have enjoyed exploring continuous provision, going on a bear hunt and decorating the Christmas tree whilst dancing to Christmas music. We have also created beautiful handprints of Mary and the Angel Gabriel.

The children have loved creating their very own Gruffalo to display above our bear cave. We have recited the story "We're going on a bear hunt." and have created wonderful pieces of writing all about our favourite part. The children also enjoyed taking part in cosmic kids yoga- bear hunt.

What a wonderful week we have had in pre-school! This week, we have celebrated Remembrance day. We created beautiful poppies and watched a special video explaining why we wear them. The children recited "To remember the soldiers." We have celebrated nursery rhyme week, exploring the rhymes through continuous provision. Robot group have been for a 'listening walk' around school, we heard lots of sounds. Our favourite was the piano and the xylophone! We have enjoyed making Gruf

It has been a lovely first week back at pre-school. We have celebrated number day and took part in an Autumn walk around the school grounds. The children collected lots of twigs and leaves and we discussed what happens in Autumn. We can't wait to make our giant Autumn collage next week!
