Mission

Our Mission is to be a Christian School where all can grow in faith, showing love, care and respect for each other as members of God's family.

St Marie's is at the heart of the community in Standish. We are a Catholic Primary School catering for pupils aged 4 - 11, along with a thriving Pre-School and Nursery.

We have been welcoming the children of Standish for over 40 years and have developed a reputation for providing a caring and disciplined environment alongside excellent academic achievements.

Terry the travel Bear & his 30 friends have arrived!

Terry and his 30 friends have arrived at St. Marie's and they can't wait to meet all their new families when the new Reception Class children start in September. Don't worry we will take good care of them in the meantime.

Over the next few weeks Terry will be joining in with a number of activities in and around school, you will be able to follow what Terry is doing HERE.

Welcome to our school we hope you enjoy our short video of a typical day at St. Marie's

"Leaders and staff enable pupils to shine at St Marie’s Catholic Primary School. Pupils love coming to school and they thrive."

"Their happiness is reflected in their exceptionally positive attitudes to learning. Leaders want pupils to achieve the very best outcomes. They are highly successful in making this happen. Pupils are remarkably well prepared for the next stage in their education."

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP THEME for next week is “CARE”

Week 7 Easter Season John’s Gospel Key Scripture

“Holy Father protect the people you have given to me”
“Since I have been with them, I have taken CARE of them”

The Gospel this week helps us to understand that there will be difficult times in our lives which we must deal with- just like the Disciples had to deal with Jesus’ death and continuing His mission to spread the Good News that God’s love is for everyone.

5 Ways to Wellbeing

The Y5 Wellbeing Warriors and their Y6 friends are planning a ‘St Marie’s Come Dancing’ competition. More information to follow but start to think about a song and solos or group entry.

Get Thinking. Get Dancing.

Week 3 Summer 2023/24

Year 4 First Holy Communion

In preparation for the children's First Holy Communion on 8th June, I have arranged a Mass with Father Joseph in St Marie's school at 10.30 am and would like to invite parents and family to attend if you are available. During this Mass, Father Joseph will help the children to understand the important parts of the Mass.

Year 6 SATs

Year 6 SATs start on Monday 13th May… and we are ready to Shine

Please ensure that your child gets plenty of sleep during the week of the tests and that they arrive in school on time every day. Having a water bottle is very important. We will have extra supplies in school.

The children have been working really hard throughout year 6 and especially over the last few weeks, we are so proud of them already.

Remember that the Year 6 SATs last for 4 days out of their whole life and are only a snap shot of their many talents and abilities, they do not measure what makes each one of them special.

Many thanks for your continued support.

LET’s GET MOVING Wigan Team are in school

On Wednesday we welcomed the LET’s GET MOING Team to St Marie’s. This is a new initiative to benefit school. St Marie’s has been selected for the team to come and work with Reception Class and Year 6 for 12 sessions. They will be working on fitness, health benefits, food choices, snack swapping, hygiene and the benefits of fitness activities and lifestyles. This will help our children with their understanding of choices as they grow older and promote healthy habits. The team have also invited our families to attend an Afterschool Club on Wednesday’s 3.30 until 4.30 with your children to find out more and work together on Active Lifestyles. Please contact the school office for more information. There will be lots of benefits from coming along to these sessions with your children have copied some of the information from the Let’s Get Moving Team for your information.

Reflection Time

Think about the fruit which gives God’s glory as NOT the fruit that grows on trees and vines but the goodness that grows inside each of us.

What could this be?

It could be your love, kindness, patience, courage, generosity, peace and self control. Remember we are all filled with these fruits when we choose to stay close to Jesus.

Each new day is an opportunity to grow in goodness.
