Admissions 2025

If your child was born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021, they will start reception class at the start of the new school year in September 2025.

Mid-year admissions, we have a number of places available in our Year 5 and Reception classes, please contact the school office if you are moving into the area and considering a school for your child.

Admissions to our School

Wigan LA will only offer ONE school place to each child, please ensure you select St Marie's as your first choice in order to secure the best chance of being offered a place at our school. If you would like to discuss your application please do not hesitate to contact us on 01257 422975.

 

For each new September intake there are 30 places at school for Reception Year children, if 30 children or less apply for a place ALL children who apply will be offered a place, however if more than 30 children apply, places will be allocated with reference to the school's Admissions policy. The third week of Advent

Today we hear John the Baptist preparing people for the coming of Jesus. The people were very excited. John told them they had to change their lives for the better and share what they had with others.

Wigan & Leigh hospice fundraising

From Monday 16th December we will be selling Christmas toys priced at £2.00 each to raise monies
for Wigan and Leigh Hospice. The toys will be sold at lunchtimes and are limited to one toy for
each child. Please send the money in an envelope if you would like to support this. Thank you.

The second week of Advent

As we light the second candle on our Advent wreath, we rejoice in God’s love for us and our love for each other. Lord, help us to share your love.

Choir and Year 5

This week our choir and Year 5 children have represented Saint Marie’s at two events - Standish
Christmas Markets and the Choirs at Christmas Concert which was at The Edge in Wigan. I would
like to say how proud we are of the children. They sang beautifully and were a credit to parents
and our school. Well done and thank you children.

The first week of Advent

Advent is a special time when we wait in hope for the coming of Jesus. We have hope that Jesus will one day come again and make all things new.

CAFOD

At this time of year, we aim to raise some money for CAFOD in support of our neighbours around
the world who are in need. On the day of Christmas dinner (Wednesday 11th December), children
are invited to wear a Christmas jumper or accessory and bring in a donation of £1 for the
collection bucket.

It has been a fantastic Autumn term

I would like to thank all families for your continued support for the children and for school.
Thank you to the staff who work so very hard and go the extra mile, including the staff who you
might not see – Mr Steve the Caretaker, our office staff, Bev and Wendy our cleaners and our
kitchen staff.
